<image:title>Our Approach - Our Approach</image:title>
<image:caption>TigerWell is committed to the promotion of health and well-being. “Health is not merely the absence of illness or distress—it is striving for positive physical, mental, and social well-being” (World Health Organization, 2014). Well-being encompasses many concepts and terms, for example, flourishing, connectedness, holistic wellness, mindfulness, resilience, grit, purpose, belonging, and self-compassion. Promoting positive well-being enables people to realize their potential, cope with the stresses of life, study and work productively and successfully, connect with one another, and contribute to their community.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Outreach Counselors - Individual Counseling: Drop-in Hours</image:title>
<image:caption>The Outreach Counselors provide individual counseling through drop-in hours, available to all undergraduate and graduate students. Virtual drop-in hours provide an easy-to-access, confidential space to discuss whatever is on your mind; these sessions are a great opportunity to get some support as well as talk about your feelings and your academic and personal experiences. No prior registration or appointments are required. Sessions will last approximately 30 minutes. Individual Counseling: By Appointment You can also schedule an individual counseling appointment with any of the Outreach Counselors by reaching out to them directly (see linked contact information above).</image:caption>

The Outreach Counselors, in collaboration with partners across campus, develop these programs as-needed, though we list a few examples here of past offerings: “Redefining Your Career Expectations During the Time of COVID-19” workshop for students “Supporting Difficult Conversations” training for Campus Life and ODOC staff, regarding trauma-informed approaches to student support Support group for student athletes Weekly virtual mindfulness meditations with the UHS Mind Body Health team</image:caption>

<image:caption>Health is not merely the absence of illness or distress—it is striving for positive physical, mental, and social well-being (World Health Organization, 2014).

A comprehensive approach to well-being requires a settings-based approach: Going beyond health education for individuals to create a campus community where the people, programs, culture, systems, policies, and spaces all work together to promote well-being.</image:caption>

Individual Counseling: By Appointment You can also schedule an individual counseling appointment with any of the Outreach Counselors.</image:caption>

<image:caption>We often think about how to promote well-being in environments outside the classroom, but learning spaces are another set of environments in which we can think about student well-being. TigerWell leads this cross-campus collaboration to promote conditions for student well-being in classrooms and other learning environments. We aim to provide faculty and other instructors in implementing small changes to educational practices (pedagogy, advising, mentoring, etc.) that can have a profound impact on students’ well-being and mental health. We are compiling this guidance in a Princeton-specific toolkit for instructors, to be made available online in 2021. This project draws greatly from successful initiatives at other universities, including Simon Fraser University & University of Texas at Austin.</image:caption>
