About TigerWell

TigerWell envisions Princeton as a health-promoting university where all students flourish and have equitable opportunities to be their best selves. We embed a public health approach throughout campus in order to advance student health, well-being, and flourishing.

Our values are central to how we do our work: justice; agency and dignity; inclusion and respect; collaboration and teamwork; innovation; transparency; proactivity and responsivity; and sustainability.

TigerWell’s approach is guided by these frameworks:

  • Socioecological framework: systems and settings-based – context matters

  • Evidence-informed and data-driven practices

  • Harm reduction approach – in appreciation of human dignity and agency

Our initiatives for our campus community include:

Initiatives and Programs

Campus Well-Being Partnership (CWP)

Over 140 staff and faculty from across the University have joined the Partnership. Members meet regularly to share information and resources, collaborate, strategize how to achieve shared well-being-related goals, and coordinate health and well-being efforts.

Well-Being in Learning Spaces Toolkit

The environments in which students learn (classrooms, labs, etc.) have an enormous impact on their well-being. Through partnering with faculty members, the toolkit provides a menu of strategies for infusing well-being into educational practices. These adjustments and considerations can improve the learning environment and profoundly impact students.

Grants Program

TigerWell encourages the Princeton community to think expansively about the improvements to campus culture that can be made possible with access to additional funding. We offer two levels of grants, both of which fund innovative and sustainable activities, programs, projects, or research that promote well-being. Students, postdocs, staff and faculty may apply.

UMatter

UMatter is a communications campaign in collaboration with CPS, SHARE, and student engagement specialists to support our community in caring for themselves and others.

Peer Health Advisers

Peer Health Advisers (PHAs) are an on-campus group of student volunteers, who are supervised by TigerWell staff and provide support, referrals, and education around health and wellness topics.

Outreach Counselors

TigerWell Outreach Counselors work from satellite offices where students live, work and socialize. They provide individual drop-in counseling appointments, support groups and referrals, and workshops and consultation on well-being-related skills and practices.

Data and Research

TigerWell uses data-driven practices, including data collection and assessment to plan interventions and programs, monitoring and evaluating programs and practices, and using published data and research literature to help inform well-being promotion efforts.
